ABOUT US
THE CHOIR
St Gellert Mixed Choir of Diosd is a choir of about 35 members. It was founded in 1993.
The settlement of Diósd, where we have our rehearsals and give several concerts annually
is located near Budapest, the capital city of Hungary.
The choir members are amateur singers brought together by the love of music.
OUR CONDUCTOR
Our conductor, Katalin Szabó obtained her degree as a conductor and secondary school music
teacher at Ferenc Liszt Music Academy. She has been working with the choir since 2002.
OUR REPERTOIRE
Our repertoire includes well-known pieces of music of the choir literature, secular and sacred music by foreign and Hungarian composers and also Hungarian folk arrangements. A more detailed list of the pieces of music that we sing can be found below.
LOCAL COMMUNITY
Fostering the local cultural traditions plays an important part in the life of our choir.
We regularly take part in the cultural events of the local community of our town and
traditionally give concerts at Easter, Whitsun, Christmas and in June, at the
end of the choral season.
REGIONAL CONNECTIONS
We take part in regional cultural choral festivals and also participate and organise
concerts with choirs from the region, the neighbouring settlements and the capital city.
INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS
Our German Partner Choir
We have had a long-established relationship with the Gesangverein Alsbach, the choir of
our partner town in Alsbach-Hähnlein, Germany. We regularly have mutual exchange visits
and concerts in Alsbach-Hählein and Diósd.
International festivals
In 2004 we took part in the international Choir Festival of Riva del Garda where we gained a silver diploma in the sacred music category and a gold diploma in the secular
category as a mixed choir.
In 2007 we attended the International Advent and Christmas Festival and Competition of Prague where we got a silver qualification.
GRUNDTVIG PARTNERSHIPS - LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAM 2011-2013

In August 2011 a two-year Grundtvig Partnership Project entitled
'SING-SONG dialog between past and future' started with the participation of five choirs
from four countries, including Diósdi Szent Gellért Vegyeskar.
The choirs are listed below in the order of hosting the workshops.
Vocafonia/Fulltura - Stowarzyszenie Form Tworczych (Warsaw, Poland), coordinators, www.vocafonia.pl
Ensemble Vocal Arcanes (Saint Estéve, France), http://arcanes66.free.fr
Diósdi Szent Gellért Vegyeskar (Diósd, Hungary), www.gellertkorus.hu
Groupe Vocal Arpege de Bourdeaux (Bordeaux, France), www.groupevocalarpege.org

The program includes musical education, vocal education of the learners, exchange of the experiences
between the partners of the project and it will be realised in workshops in each of the participating
country throughout the two years. There will be a concert at the end of each workshop in the participating country.
The partners will learn and perform compositons from each participating country.
